Some of you know that I'm interested in geneology. One of my sorta distant cousiny uncley guys has an extensive website with family history stuff about my paternal branch. This is totally awesome. This branch does a lot of networking and research and I feel very lucky to have these interested people in my family, even though I hardly know any of them.
The cool part is I can trace grandfathers back to leaving England in the early 1600s. This also means I can mostly list grandfathers with up to eight "greats" in front of their titles. Bear with me while I list them:
Jonathan Eves (b 1615 -- England) | William Eves | Graves Eaves (not sure what the name change is all about here) | Graves Eaves II (Revolutionary War veteran) | Buckner Eaves (nice name!) | Joel Eaves | John Wesley Eaves | Claude C Eaves | Melvin C Eaves | Charles W Eaves | me!
Sweet, eh? | | 9:31 am |
bear in progress 2 Further progress on the bear piece. I still need to finish up some details, like the mouth, but all in all....well....truthfully, it's still in the ugly duckling stage. | | Monday, June 29th, 2009 | | 10:28 pm |
in process bear painting This one is different for me. There was no sketch beforehand to transfer to the paper, it's much larger than I'm used to for watercolor, and it's as loose as I could get it. It's been fun so far. Hope it continues to progress. | | Sunday, June 28th, 2009 | | 10:28 pm |
Glacier Park Acrylic, 22"x30", finished this weekend at the studio. | | Thursday, June 25th, 2009 | | 11:43 pm |
Cat and Bird Down the River Notes from a recent meeting at work...I just got done reading Huckleberry Finn, which I liked a lot. I don't think I ever read it all the way through in high school. I finished it on the heels of Tom Sawyer, which I didn't like as much. | | Sunday, June 7th, 2009 | | 12:03 am |
Dragon bookshelf A while back, someone asked for a drawing of a dragon that they could carve and paint into a bookshelf they'd built. I did the piece and sent it to them. They sent me back this photo of the final product. Not as exciting as having someone get your art tattooed on them, but still a nice feeling none-the-less. | | Saturday, June 6th, 2009 | | 9:08 pm |
painting in process Here's what I worked today. It still has some way to go, but I feel nice and accomplished. | | Monday, June 1st, 2009 | | 10:45 pm |

I went for a little bike ride this weekend. Vashon Island again, netting about 40 miles, total, on my clunky mountain bike. It was all hills and took about 8 hours. I kept my heart rate up at about 150 most of the time. Fortunately, I had an awesome biking buddy with me who was resourceful with finding maps and water. Talk about saving the day. The ferry ride back and forth was beautiful as well. I really do live in one of the best places in the world. We went for a walk, too, since we had our hearts set on trying out Red Hot finally, but we were denied. Denied! We could add an extra three miles of walking to that mileage tally though. Mostly walking...the last bit was some shambling. Like last year's ride (43 miles in September), I'm very tired but not sore. My legs burn a little when I do anything, but it's nice to know it's well-earned. I look forward to the next ride in a couple weeks! | | Sunday, May 24th, 2009 | | 9:44 pm |
Buck and me Buck went to Kopachuck Park out in Gig Harbor this weekend, and here is a picture from it. I think he's tired of having his picture taken. | | Friday, May 15th, 2009 | | 11:01 am |

Buck and Saber They are finally friends. There is still some grumbling, but now there is playing, too. And Buck will share his bed and not just when I make him. Hurray. | | Monday, May 11th, 2009 | | 12:21 am |
Dogsitting I'm dogsitting for a friends. Here's Saber. She's a six month old Doberman. She is full of beans. | | Thursday, May 7th, 2009 | | 2:51 pm |

Shoes and Flowers I'm so glad spring seems to be arriving. I've already been riding my bike, even though the first couple of weeks have made me feel fatter for it. But I seem to recall this happening last year. So...it's nice to get back on the bike. If nothing else, it's a more peaceful way home from the bus stop than the car. Here's another little greeting card drawing. | | Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 | | 6:39 pm |
P1030052 This weekend included a really nice road trip to Pt. Townsend. Here's Buck at the bottom of some stairs in the ruins of Ft. Worden. He had a good time! More pics on the flickr account, if you follow the link, including some pretty pics of the tide pool I dropped my phone in. It still works! | | Monday, April 20th, 2009 | | 10:20 pm |

P1020998 I got a picture of this in Seattle. It's downtown around where the new library is. I adore these walruses. They are on the walls of this old building. |
